Ang Darling Kong Aswang is a filipino/pinoy movie and official entry for Metro Manila Film Festival 2009. M-zet Productions released the teaser trailer of their Metro Manila FilmFestival entry “Ang Darling Kong Aswang” as topbilled by Vic Sotto. Directed by Tony Reyes, Ang Darling Kong Aswang is set to premiere on Christmas Day.

Review: Shake, Rattle & Roll is a Filipino horror film series dating back to 1984. It is currently produced by Regal Films. Most of the series are official entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival with the exception of the sixth installment which premiered in January 1997. The title is solely based on the song of the same name.

This horror film franchise which is currently owned by Regal Films is known to be the only film series in the Philippines with the most movie installments. The first installment was released under the defunct Athena Productions while all the succeeding series are produced by Regal Entertainment. As of 2009, there are ten installments of the movie series, with the latest being premiered in December 2008.

Shake Rattle And Roll 11 (2009) Pinoy Movie

Despite the cheerful atmosphere of the Yuletide season, Regal Films has made it a tradition to scare families with their horror franchise Shake, Rattle and Roll. This 2009, moviegoers will be able to watch the 11th installment of SRR for the annual Metro Manila Film Festival. Here are the three segment of SRR 11:

Lamang Lupa

• Cast: Jennica Garcia, Rayver Cruz, Iya Villania, Mart Escudero, Bangs Garcia and twin brothers Dominic and Felix Roco. • Director: Jessel Monteverde The episode “Lamang Lupa” features some of the most sought-after young stars of the Kapamilya and Kapuso Networks: Jennica Garcia, Rayver Cruz, Iya Villania, Mart Escudero, Bangs Garcia and twin brothers Dominic Roco and Felix Roco. The story revolves around a group of friends who went camping only to find themselves relentlessly pursued by ferocious creatures called “lamanglupas.” Director for this episode is Jessel Monteverde.

Diablo

• Cast: Maja Salvador, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Cherry Pie Picache, Gina Alajar, Ron Morales, and Jairus Aquino • Director: Rico Gutierrez

The second episode, “Diablo,” will pair Maja Salvador with Mark Anthony Fernandez for the very first time. Directed by Rico Gutierrez, the episode tells the story of Claire, a young doctor-intern at a provincial hospital is haunted by demonic visions after she encounters a female patient who is suspected of carrying a deadly flu virus. Claire’s aunt brings her to Fr. Ronnie who turns out be Claire’s ex-boyfriend. Old flames are rekindled with both Fr. Ronnie and Claire battle the demons.

Ukay-Ukay

• Cast: Ruffa Gutierrez, Zoren Legaspi, Megan Young. • Director: Don Michael Perez

the “Ukay-Ukay” story with Ruffa Gutierrez and Zoren Legaspi as a would-be couple Kayla and Harold whose wedding plans are deterred by a possessed vintage gown. When it falls into their hands, heavy breathing, nightmares, dragging footsteps and an apparition of a headless bride start happening. Instead of planning a wedding, Kayla must now fight against the evil spirits. Megan Young is also cast in this episode. Writer-turned-director Don Michael Perez is at the helm.

Review: Nieves is a segment from Shake, Rattle and Roll 10 movie that the main cast is Miss Marian Rivera, a filipina heartrob. It is the official entry for Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2009. It’s a comedy, suspense and fantasy filipino (pinoy) movie that will shake, rattle and roll to avid movie goers.

Plot/synopsis: Nieves is the town’s famous and well-loved Engkanto Slayer. After the tragic loss of her husband Adonis (Mike “Pekto” Nacua), Nieves (Marian Rivera) resigns from her post as Engkanto Slayer. When strange and unexplainable attacks began to strike the whole town, Nieves is forced to resume her job as Engkanto Slayer. She, together with her slayers in training: Junie (Robert Villar) and Kaycee (Jennica Garcia) must team up to save the townsfolk from extinction. But everything begins to turn ugly as Kaysee is revealed to be Acacia (Diana Zubiri), Nieves’s rival for Adonis. Soon a confrontation occurred between them that leads to Acacia’s death and the restoration of peace at the townsfolk.

Review: Ang Panday (“The Blacksmith”) is an upcoming 2009 Philippine fantasy film that adaptsCarlo J. Caparas’ Panday comics. Directed by Rico Gutierrez and Mac Alejandre, thefilm adaptation stars Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. as the title character. It is set for aDecember 25 release date.

Plot/sypnosis: Panday is a blacksmith whose real name is Flavio. When a meteor fell from the sky one night, he forged the metal from the meteor into a dagger, the balaraw. When he raises the dagger to the sky, it magically grows into a sword. He uses this magical sword to fight the evil Lizardo  and other supernatural beings. Eventually, Lizardo and his minions are destroyed.

Review: This 2009, Star Cinema’s most awaited comedy “Ang Tanging Pamilya (A Marry-Go-Round)” is was released yesterday (October 25) on ABS-CBN. Ang Tanging Pamilya is a star-studded comedy movie directed by the blockbuster director Wenn Deramas. Ang Tanging Pamilya stars the Comedy Queen Ai Ai delas Alas and the former President Joseph Estrada. They will be joined by the reunited love-team of Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby. And introducing in the movie is no less than Manny Pacquiao’s mom, Aling Dionesia Pacquiao!

Plot/synopsis: Ang Tanging Pamilya (A Marry-Go-Round) is the movie comeback of Former President Erap Estrada after two-decades of absence in the big screen. In “Ang Tanging Pamilya,” Joseph Estrada plays the role of Dindo, an extremely strict dad, especially to his only daughter Charlie (portrayed by Toni Gonzaga). Throughout the movie, Dindo puts Charlie’s boyfriend, Prince (portrayed by Sam Milby), through hell. Estrada explained that when his character was still courting Sunshine (Ai Ai Delas Alas) her parents also gave him a hard time that’s why he is getting even.

Aling Dionisia Pacquiao, on the other hand, will play the role of Sam Milby’s mom. Ang Tanging Pamilya is similar to the movie “Meet the Fockers,” with Pinoy brand of humor. Ang Tanging Pamilya (A Marry-Go-Round) is scheduled to hits the theaters on November 11, 2009.

Review: Yanggaw is a horror film written and directed by Richard Somes. Even the names of the character are a takeoff to names of endearment by Ilonggos such as Toto and Inday. Even garbling the names upon dictation has crazed the audience who are watching it (most of them are Ilonggos). They are chuckling at how spontaneous the actors are (which I feel that most of the lines are adlib). They could have been so at ease with their mother dialect and that the essence of creating a horror atmosphere obnubilated by the inept script. Of course it is admirable to express amusement with how we relate to the rich language of Hiligaynon. It’s just disappointing because I understand it very well and it sounds like an honest mistake – really.

Yanggaw has a fresh take on our local myths. Somes has achieved an atmosphere for such incredible tales of aswang. The aswang inspiration is attained even without hi-tech effects and that is totally delightful to see. Well known actors like Joel Torre as Dulpo is such a relief to see on screen even if he appears to be a bit funny. Even Tetchie Agbayani as Inday has delivered her acting again with much self-confidence. Yanggaw won the Audience Choice Award in this year’s Cinema One Originals 2008 Festival. Ilonggo’s are proud of the film obviously. But the use of the dialect is a major distraction to the aim of the film. I should be frightened and not something else.
