Review: Sherlock Holmes is an upcoming 2009 film adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s fictional character of the same name. Guy Ritchie will direct the film, while Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin will produce the film. Michael Robert Johnson, Anthony Peckham and Simon Kinberg will write the screenplay based on Lionel Wigram’s story and Doyle’s characters. Robert Downey, Jr. will portray Holmes and Jude Law will portray John Watson. The film will be released on December 25, 2009.. The film is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some startling images and a scene of suggestive material.

Plot/sypnosis:

The film is set in 1891 and revolves around Holmes (Robert Downey, Jr.) and Watson (Jude Law) stopping a conspiracy to destroy Britain.[3] The film opens with Holmes apprehending the murderous cult leader Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), who promises he will return from the dead and exact his revenge as he is being led to the gallows.

Review:  Nine is a 2009 American musical film directed by Rob Marshall. The screenplay, by Michael Tolkin and Anthony Minghella^[1], is based on Arthur Kopit’s book for the 1982 Tony Award-winning musical of the same name, which was derived from an Italian play by Mario Fratti inspired by Federico Fellini’s autobiographical film 8½. Maury Yeston composed the music and wrote the lyrics for the songs. The film is scheduled to be released in the US on December 18, 2009, in New York and Los Angeles and open for wide release on December 25, 2009.

Review: id You Hear About the Morgans? is an upcoming 2009 comedy film written and directed by Marc Lawrence, and starring Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker. The film will be released in North America on December 11, 2009 by Columbia Pictures.

Plot/sypnosis: Did You Hear About the Morgans? follows a highly successful Manhattan couple, Meryl and Paul Morgan (Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant), whose almost-perfect lives have only one notable failure – their dissolving marriage. But the turmoil of their romantic lives is nothing compared to what they are about to experience: they witness a murder and become targets of a contract killer. The Feds, protecting their witnesses, whisk away the Morgans from their beloved New York to a tiny town in Wyoming, and a relationship that was on the rocks threatens to end completely in the Rockies… unless, in their new BlackBerry-free lives, the Morgans can slow down the pace and rekindle the passion.

Review: In May 2003, Paramount Pictures, Davis Films, and Gaga Productions announced its joint venture to adapt the action-adventure game series into a $50 million live-action feature film. According to Paramount Pictures and Davis Films’ Samuel Hadida, “It’s samurai fighting against demons – it’s very close to this simple pitch. There’s also a love story woven in. It’s a big adventure movie with lots of special effects.” Hadida also proposed the possibility of a film franchise. In December 2006, director Christophe Gans said that he had Onimusha lined up to film.The film, budgeted at over $70 million, was to begin production in China in February 2008 for a December 2009 release. In a June article by movie site Ain’t It Cool News, it was revealed that Takeshi Kaneshiro will be in the movie, reprising his role as Samanosuke.

Plot/synopsis: The Onimusha film has been put on indefinite hold due to the death of Heath Ledger, which impacted on the schedule of producer Samuel Hadida, who was due to work with Ledger on the movie. Ledger was cast to play Roberto, the Spaniard from Dawn of Dreams. Because of his death, Hadida has yet to find a new actor and has put the movie on hiatus. Because of this, Hadida had to delay the filming of Onimusha, which has resulted in the film’s Japanese cast working on other film projects during the delay, and being unavailable to start filming Onimusha. These factors were enough that French director Christophe Gans will now direct an adaptation of Leo Perutz’s novel “The Swedish Cavalier” first, taking over the reigns from Gilles Mimouni. Satomi Ishihara and Tsuyoshi Ihara remain attached to the project.

Review: Avatar is an upcoming 3-D science fiction epic film directed by James Cameron, due to be released on December 16, 2009 by 20th Century Fox. The film is Lightstorm Entertainment’s latest project, and focuses on an epic conflict on a far-away world called Pandora, where humans and the native species of Pandora, the Na’vi, engage in war over the planet’s resources and existence.

The film will be released in 2D and 3D formats, along with an IMAX 3D release in selected theaters. The film is being touted as a breakthrough in terms of filmmaking technology, for its development of 3D viewing and stereoscopic filmmaking with cameras that were specially designed for the film’s production, and has already been slated for two awards.

Review: Brothers is an upcoming 2009 drama/war film starring Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman. Directed by Jim Sheridan, the film is based on Susanne Bier’s 2004 Danish film Brodre which partially takes place in Afghanistan, replacing Danish soldiers with Irish-Americans. Furthermore, the film draws inspiration from Homer’s epic poem the Odyssey.

Plot/Sypnosis: When a decorated Marine goes missing overseas, his black-sheep younger brother cares for his wife and children at home — with consequences that will shake the foundation of the entire family.

The film tells the story of two siblings, Captain Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) and younger brother Tommy Cahill (Jake Gyllenhaal), who are polar opposites. A Marine about to embark on his fourth tour of duty, Sam is a steadfast family man married to his high school sweetheart, Grace (Natalie Portman), with whom he has two young daughters, Isabelle and Maggie (Bailee Madison, Taylor Grace Geare). Tommy, his charismatic younger brother, is a drifter just out of jail who’s always gotten by on wit and charm. When Sam goes missing, Tommy moves in to take care of the family, and eventually begins a relationship with Grace. Review: Armored is an upcoming 2009 American crime thriller film directed by Nimród Antal, written by first time screenwriter James V. Simpson, and starring Matt Dillon, Jean Reno and Laurence Fishburne. It is set to be released on December 4, 2009. It has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA for sequences of intense violence, some disturbing images and brief strong language.

Plot/Sypnosis: Ty (Columbus Short) is a young armored car guard. When he has difficulties making ends meet, the veteran guards convince him to join them in emptying a truck of its $42 million cargo. Conflict arises when the guards shoot a cop (Milo Ventimiglia) and Ty insists on helping him. A standoff ensues, with Ty locked in the armored car with the cop and the money.
